ABOUT US
RURIDAMA
Our workshop is located in Akishima city, Tokyo.
Akishima is a water town where 100% of the tap water is used as groundwater, and two springs are selected as one of the "57 famous spring waters in Tokyo".
Indigo dyeing at our workshop is "natural lye fermentation", and is also called "HON-AIZOME".
We follow traditional techniques and use no chemical dyes or chemicals.
Water is very important for natural lye fermentation, and "good water" nurtures "good indigo" and produces "good color".
We started indigo dyeing in Akishima in 1984 in search of good water.
We don't just stick to traditional culture to stick to natural lye fermentation.
True old-fashioned indigo dye has a beautiful color and is very comfortable to use, and the longer you use it, the better the taste.
You can use it comfortably.
All items are squeezed by hand and dyed by hand, so the patterns and colors are different.
We would be very pleased if you could enjoy the true indigo color of Japanese tradition as one of the colors that color your life.
In addition, since 2011, we have been carrying out indigo dyeing with users at Person with a disability working support center.
Through HON-AIZOME, we hope to experience the joy of making and expressing things and the joy of working.
